Brawley Union High School proudly announces that Lindsey Cato Rubin has been named the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) State 2024-25 Volleyball Model Coach. This award comes after a season marked by dedication, leadership, and perseverance. Under her guidance, Rubin’s team triumphed in the San Diego CIF Division 3 Championship and secured a spot in the CIF Southern California Semi-Finals. Additionally, she was also recognized as the Valley Sports Network's Coach of the Year for the Imperial Valley.
The CIF Model Coach Award is given to recognize coaches who have served as positive role models in their schools and communities and who have exhibited t he traits apparent in the 16 principles of Pursuing Victory with Honor. Along with teaching the six core values.
Coach Rubin, a former collegiate volleyball player, joined BUHS in 2022 as the Varsity Volleyball Coach. Since then, she has passionately dedicated herself to helping athletes grow both on and off the court. Her dedication does not stop at developing talented athletes but also to nurturing their character and resilience. Under her guidance, players have blossomed not only as competitors but also as leaders within the community. The impact of her coaching goes far beyond sport, as she instills critical life skills such as perseverance, discipline, and cooperation.
CIF Executive Director Ron Nocetti announced Rubin and other honorees in an email, stating, "Thank you to these outstanding coaches for their dedication to education-based athletics, not only developing skills but also building character in the student-athletes they serve."
