The Association of California School Administrators has proudly announced the recipients of the Region 18 Administrators of the Year award, which recognizes exceptional leaders across Imperial and San Diego Counties. Among the distinguished honorees is Brawley Union High School District’s Superintendent, Simon Canalez.
Brawley Union High School District takes great pride in Mr. Canalez's unwavering dedication and passion for education. His hands-on leadership is evident in the many ways he engages directly with students. From joining them for on-campus lunches, where he interacts with them one-on-one, to participating in classroom activities, school assemblies, and even cheering at Friday night football games. Mr. Canalez exemplifies a deep commitment to fostering meaningful connections with students.

Beyond his active involvement, Mr. Canalez serves as a pillar of the community, inspiring excellence in education and leadership. With several years of dedicated service to the Brawley Union High School District, he has previously been recognized as the Association of California School Administrators’ Administrator of the Year for Career Technical Education, for both San Diego and Imperial Counties.
